Saying hello!

“The door to success is marked ‘Push’ and ‘Pull’.” Proverb
Congratulations on taking off into the 2nd year and welcome to the group.

I had a wonderful summer which included roaming the Scottish Highlands, walking the coastline of northeast Norfolk and watching seals, and along that coastline, came across a new trendy food in Britain called samphire, which is a type of sea shore plant. Also read lots, one of which to recommend is - "If nobody speaks of remarkable things" by Jon Mcgregor ... more of that another time. Finally returning to Portugal to relax at home.

To get the ball rolling, the cameras clicking and the creative spirit glowing, let the group know you have arrived by telling us where you have been - the highlights of these last few months. Post a reply.

I hate being first when leaving comments in blogs. That is why I was hoping and waiting for someone to go first...
It sounds like Allyson had a fantastic time around Scotland. The Highlands and all that Celtic atmosphere sounds rather mysterious. I just hope you have a lot of stories to tell us!

It looks like spending the whole day cleaning up the house was a good thing after all. At least I'm not going to be the first one leaving a comment.

I've got to say that I agree with Luis. It does sound like Allyson had some wonderful times this summer!

Every summer I do the same, and this was no exception: I went to visit my family in Madeira and see day 1 of Vinho Madeira Rally.

Hello!
It seems that Samphire tastes and smells of fennel, so I bet your senses had a marvellous time back in Britain!
By the way, how did the weather behaved while you were on vacations?
Bye.

Hi to everyone! =D

My vacations were fantastic this year! I went to Sesimbra for 2 weeks... I needed to relax on the beach! And then I went to Paris, the city of love! (supposedly.. =P)I advice everyone to visit it because of their culture and their monuments and streets. There's a good thing in there: almost everyone goes to their jobs by bicycle. It should happen here in Portugal but it's a little bit difficult to implement it.

That's all! =D I have more things to say about the French people but it would be very extensive, very looooong.

Hi there!
Sounds like a terrific place to spend a few days. It's actually funny, because a was thinking of going there myself this summer. Well the rest of the family prefered Holland and Germany, so we went on a real cool road trip around Europe!
See you in class...

Hi there!! :)
It's good to know that everybody had so much fun during the summer holydays. I had a really great time too. I've been in Sesimbra just like Joana did, and i went to see Red Bull Air Race which took place in Oporto. It was really something, seeing all the planes flying so fast and so near you, really really great =D
Enough now :P

See ya =D

Hi everyone!

It sounds like Allyson had a wonderful time in Scotland. My summer was also fantastic. As usual I went to Serra da Estrela and visited some relatives and childhood friends that live in the region of Aveiro. It was great to be with them! I also enjoyed some sunny days on the beach of Comporta. Finally, the rest of the summer was spent mainly in Setúbal, where I used to live before moving to Lisbon.

Hi everyone!!

The Scottish Highlands must be such an amazing place, I would love to go there if I had a chance, but on the other hand I would get a bit suspicious about samphire…but maybe it is very tasty, am I wrong? By your description you had a great time, in a great place. What more can we ask for in a summer vacation?

In my case, I spent most of my vacation trying to be with all my friends and family that during classes I do not see as often as I would like. Besides all the time I spent at home and doing small trips around the country, I went to Algarve for about 20 days and a weekend to a little island that I like to call mine, Ilha do Farol, also in Algarve. That was the high point of my summer! Now I’m getting ready to, on my next vacation, explore what the rest of the Europe has to offer!

I wish you all a great beginning in this new academic year!

See you in class.

Hi people = P

My summer holidays were splendid. I have spent a month in São Martinho do Porto, a very beautiful and relaxing bay, near Nazaré and Caldas da Rainha. I usually go there every year, but it's always a different experience.
Then I began to attend driving lessons, but relax I'm not attending them in Lisbon = DD

Hi there!

My summer was not so nice, I was bored and crashing cars all the time... lol just kidding.
I had a great time in Galicia, spain. It was nice to see one culture that is at the same time so similar and so diferent from the portuguese culture.

The rest of the time was spent mostly at home or at the beach in Santa Cruz with my friends

Good luck to everybody this year*

I did nothing special this summer. I only took the opportunity to sleep a lot and to do the same as always: work!

I was walking around when some guy asked me,

- You still haven't posted a comment on Allyson's summer vacations, haven't you?

Me, as vague as polite,

- No.

He, insisting, not knowing when to back down,

- Why...?

Me, being me,

- Well, you know, things to see, people to do...

He, trying to get the upper hand, foolishly putting on a patronizing smile,

- Oh no, it's "things to do, people to see"...

Me, at my most sarcastic and with my eyes laughing in round pear-shaped tones,

- If you say so...
